Eastern Pig Health – plans for a CPD meeting
Pig Veterinary Medicine for the Non-Specialist Veterinary Surgeon
The Eastern Pig Health (EPH) initiative is working with pig producers and allied industries to improve pig health and biosecurity in the East Anglian region. EPH is keen to involve all pig owners, regardless of the size of their unit. To help make contacts and increase awareness EPH is planning a CPD meeting on pig veterinary medicine aimed at veterinary surgeons who only occasionally attend clients with pigs, often those kept as pets or as part of smallholdings. The meeting will be at VLA Bury St Edmunds on January 20th 2011 at 6.00pm. A buffet and refreshments will be provided.
Topics will include:
An update on the work of the VLA and current pig disease issues in the EPH region
An update on the work of the Pig Veterinary Society
Information on how to collect diagnostic samples and submitting to the VLA
Pig disease diagnosis and pig handling
Aims and objectives of EPH
Vets wishing to attend should contact the VLA Bury St Edmunds by FAX (01284 724500) or email bury-st-edmunds@vla.defra.gsi.gov.uk or via Eastern Pig Health by contacting Ross Lake on 07792681203 or ross.lake@bpex.org.uk
